Your Life is a Letter from Christ to Others

I’ve been thinking about how we present ourselves as Christians to others. Where do people develop the opinions they have about us? What opinions do we have of other Christians and even of ourselves?

Paul actively wrote letters of recommendation for those that he mentored so that when they approached a new area they where accepted and trusted. Our culture is different and we don’t change or visit churches by letters of recommendations anymore. We don’t need to, but we need to be aware of how we are presenting and representing ourselves to others.

2 Corinthians 3:2-3 TPT

2 The only letter of recommendation we need is you yourselves. Your lives are a letter written in our hearts, everyone can read it and recognize our good work among you.

3 Clearly, you are a letter from Christ showing the result of our ministry among you. This “letter” is written not with pen and ink, but with the Spirit of the living God. It is carved not on tablets of stone, but on human hearts.

What does your letter say to others?

Imagine a long awaited or perhaps a surprise letter from a friend arrives in the mail. You smell the paper and examine the envelope. Your first impressions of what is inside. You open the envelope carefully as the first glance of the letter emerges and you are enticed and excited. You read the letter and you feel so blessed, encouraged, joyful and loved because the sender expressed themselves with wisdom, understanding and joy. You can tell the letter was so well written, it took time and careful attention to every detail. It left you wanting more with curiosity billowing… your heart excited you reach out, for more.

Paul says in 1Corinthians 10:33 TPT

“Follow my example, for I try to please everyone in all things, rather than putting my liberty first, I sincerely attempt to do anything I can so that others may be saved”

How precious you are to be called a letter that is written by the blood Jesus and the Holy Spirit. You are the one that Jesus loves. You are the one that Jesus recommends.

Lord help me to walk this path of truth that you have placed in my heart.

James(Jacob) 3:18b TPT

“…Good seeds of wisdom’s fruit will be planted with peaceful acts by those who cherish making peace.”

Be Blessed!
